Alpha JWC Increases Stake in Kopi Kenangan Amid Strong Growth and Regional Expansion

Sep 24, 2026

Jakarta, Indonesia — Alpha JWC Ventures has increased its investment in Kopi Kenangan, one of Southeast Asia’s leading coffee chains, as part of the company’s ongoing funding round. The transaction also involves increased investments from Kopi Kenangan cofounder and CEO Edward Tirtanata and existing investors Tybourne Capital Management and Horizons Ventures.

The additional investment reflects continued investor confidence in Kopi Kenangan’s growth trajectory, supported by strong financial performance, improving operational efficiency, and an expanding international presence.

Strong Financial Performance and Operational Growth

Kopi Kenangan reported 62% year-on-year revenue growth in the first half of 2026, following 45% growth in the previous year.

The company’s profitability metrics have also improved. EBITDA increased 86% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, outpacing revenue growth, while its EBITDA margin expanded by 3.4 percentage points.

Despite its rapid expansion, Kopi Kenangan has maintained double-digit EBITDA margins, reflecting the company’s focus on operational efficiency and sustainable growth.

These results highlight the company’s ability to scale its business while strengthening its underlying financial performance.

Expanding Across Seven International Markets

Founded in 2017 by Edward Tirtanata, James Prananto, and Cynthia Chaerunnisa, Kopi Kenangan has grown from an Indonesian coffee startup into a regional consumer brand.

The company now operates more than 1,500 outlets across seven markets, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, India, Australia, and Taiwan.

In 2026, Kopi Kenangan opened 221 new outlets through the period reported, including 118 in the second quarter alone.

Its expansion has been supported by a relatively asset-light, grab-and-go retail model, allowing the company to reach a broad customer base while maintaining a focus on operating efficiency.

Alongside its physical retail network, Kopi Kenangan continues to develop additional distribution opportunities and product offerings beyond its stores.

Continued Investment in Long-Term Growth

The participation of Kopi Kenangan’s founder and existing investors underscores their continued commitment to the company’s next phase of development.

For Alpha JWC, the transaction builds on its longstanding partnership with Kopi Kenangan and its founders, supporting the company’s continued expansion and operational development.

As competition intensifies across Southeast Asia’s coffee market, Kopi Kenangan’s combination of revenue growth, improving profitability, and international expansion provides a foundation for its next stage of growth.

With an established presence across seven markets and continued investment from its shareholders, Kopi Kenangan remains focused on strengthening its position as a regional consumer brand.
